BAG IT UP!
On entering every room, have two bags ready for use. The first bag can be used for general waste in the bins & left in the room, whilst the second bag can be used to easily gather up towels and dressing gowns ready for washing. Once this is done, you can then strip down the bed for washing, before replacing with fresh & new bedding.
DUSTING HIGH & LOW
On of the biggest bugbears for hotel guests, is staying in a dusty room. Remember to dust from floor to ceiling, paying particular attention to skirting boards, furniture, light fixtures, vents and lighting. These are the places in which dust gathers, and guests do check these areas!
WIPE DOWN HARD SURFACES
One of the most important things to do in any hotel room is to wipe down and sanitise any hard surfaces. Using a germ-killing disinfectant wipe or chemical ensures that not only are the hard surfaces across the room clean, but they are also safe – killing germs and minimising the risk of your guests becoming poorly.
Always remember to clean the most touched things in any hotel room, including doorknobs, light switches, handles on furniture etc.
BATHROOM DEEP CLEAN
The toilet is one of the most personal areas of any hotel room, so it’s important to pay particular attention to areas within it – ensuring a sparkling bathroom. It’s always a good idea to open the windows of the bathroom, or it’s ventilation whilst cleaning to help freshen the environment. Scrub & clean everything from the basins to the bath, the shower and the toilet – and remember to replace dustbin liners, bath mats etc. It’s also good to use this opportunity to give the bathroom a quick inspection for damage.
FLOORING
Most hotel rooms have a combination of both hard and soft flooring, usually hard tiled flooring in the bathrooms – and carpets in the main room. Ensure that all of these surfaces are cleaned, Hoover all of the carpets – including under the bed if required. Use equipment such as mops and wipes to also give the bathroom a deep clean, especially around the toilet area.
